Terms of Service

These are the terms that govern your use of MiniPx (minipx.com). They are written in plain English. If anything is unclear, email contact@minipx.com and we'll explain. By using the service, you agree to these terms.

1. What MiniPx is

MiniPx is a browser-based image toolkit hosted at minipx.com. It does two things. First, it compresses, converts and resizes images. Second, it runs a set of AI tools — a background remover, an image upscaler, and a passport photo maker.

All of it, the AI tools included, runs locally on your own device using JavaScript, the Canvas API, and machine-learning models that execute in your browser. We do not upload, store, or transmit your image files. The service is offered in a Free tier and a paid Pro tier.

2. Who runs MiniPx

MiniPx is operated by Gaurav Bhowmick, an individual sole proprietor based in India. Contact: contact@minipx.com. If you need a postal address — for a formal notice, or for a consumer body or regulator in your country — email us and we will provide it. Paid transactions are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, who acts as the merchant of record for purchases.

3. Your licence to use MiniPx

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use MiniPx for personal or commercial work, on the terms set out on this page. The licence runs for as long as you keep to those terms. It can be revoked if you break them in a material way, as described in the "Termination" section below. It does not transfer any ownership of MiniPx itself to you.

What you make with MiniPx is a separate matter, and it is yours. The licence covers the tool, not the output: your image files and everything you produce with them belong entirely to you, as set out in "Intellectual property" below.

4. The Free tier

The Free tier costs nothing and needs no registration. It is not unlimited, though. These are the published limits:

• Compression, conversion and resizing: unlimited.
• Batch processing: up to 5 files at a time.
• AI tools: 2 free runs shared across the background remover, the image upscaler and the passport photo maker. After that a cooldown applies — 60 minutes the first time, then 30 minutes longer on each repeat, capped at 24 hours. The cooldown resets after 7 days with no AI run.
• AI output on the Free tier carries a MiniPx watermark.
• AI resolution is capped at 1080px. For the background remover and the passport photo maker that is an output cap. For the upscaler it is an input cap, so the image you feed in must be 1080px or smaller — the upscaled result is larger than that.

These are the limits as published today. We may change them, and if we do we will give notice on the site before the change takes effect. We do not promise the Free tier will be available indefinitely, but we have no plan to remove it. Everything in "Acceptable use" below applies to Free tier users too.

5. The Pro tier

The Pro tier lifts the Free limits and adds tools on top:

• Unlimited AI runs, with no cooldown.
• No watermark on AI output.
• Higher resolution caps: background remover output up to 4096px, a higher-resolution source pipeline for the passport photo maker (the delivered photo is sized to the country’s official spec on either tier), upscaler input up to 2048px at 4x or 4096px at 2x.
• Unlimited batch processing.
• Responsive image sets, multi-format export, platform presets, the watermark tool, saved presets, the 6 batch rename templates, and advanced codec controls.

Pro is purchased via Paddle as a monthly subscription, annual subscription, or one-time lifetime payment. Prices are shown in USD and exclude VAT, GST and any equivalent sales tax; Paddle works out what applies where you are and adds it at checkout, so the total you pay may be higher than the listed price.

Pro features become available immediately on successful payment. The licence is stored on your device (in browser localStorage), and is verified against Paddle's API every seven days. Pro can be activated on up to 5 devices for Monthly and Annual plans, or 10 devices for Lifetime. These device limits are real and enforced on our side, not just a note in the interface.

Subscriptions auto-renew at the price displayed at purchase. You can cancel renewal at any time through the Paddle customer portal link in your receipt email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Lifetime purchases give you access to current and future Pro features for as long as MiniPx is operated, with one carve-out that also appears on our Pricing page: any feature that costs us money every time it is used, such as anything that has to run on a server we pay for per request, may be offered as a separate paid add-on rather than included. Everything that runs on your own device stays included. If we ever discontinue MiniPx, lifetime keys remain valid for the operational lifetime of the product.

6. Refunds

Refunds are handled by Paddle as the merchant of record, under the terms set out in our Refund Policy. In short: a full refund is available within 14 days of any purchase, no questions asked, provided you have not yet downloaded output from a Pro-only feature. Once you have, that purchase counts as consumed and the no-questions window closes for it. Faulty or misdescribed features will be considered for refund within 60 days regardless of use, and statutory consumer rights in the EU, the UK and India are unaffected by this clause.

Refund requests are made by emailing contact@minipx.com with your Paddle order ID. That is the single route: refunds are not self-serve and are never auto-approved, and a person here reads and decides every request. If you want to dispute a charge, email the same address before raising a chargeback with your bank or card issuer — a chargeback locks the account while the card network decides it, which removes the one route we have to put things right. That is a request about which door to knock on, and it takes nothing away from your statutory rights or your right to dispute a charge.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use MiniPx to:

• Process content that is illegal in India or in the jurisdiction you are using the service from.
• Circumvent, disable, or tamper with the Pro licence check, or build, share or sell tools, keys or patches that let other people do so.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the operation of minipx.com or the Netlify infrastructure that hosts it.
• Resell, rebrand, or repackage MiniPx as your own product, paid or free.

MiniPx runs entirely in your browser, so the code that does the work is delivered to your device and you are free to read it, inspect it, and study how it operates. The repository itself is private and we do not currently publish the source under an open-source licence.

To be explicit, because the wording above could otherwise be read too widely: nothing here stops you observing, studying or testing how MiniPx works, and nothing here restricts decompilation where the law permits it, including for interoperability with other software. In the EU, Articles 5(3) and 6 of the Software Directive (2009/24/EC) give you those rights and we do not attempt to contract out of them. The narrow thing we prohibit is defeating the licence check and passing that around.

8. Intellectual property

The MiniPx brand, name, logo, the design of minipx.com and the underlying source code belong to Gaurav Bhowmick and are not licensed for reuse. Your image files and the outputs you produce, including AI output, belong entirely to you. We claim no rights to your content because we never see it.

9. Disclaimer of warranty

MiniPx is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every browser or device. Compression and conversion results depend on your input files; we do not warrant any specific output quality or file size reduction.

The AI tools are best-effort by nature. Background removal, upscaling and passport cropping produce an estimate, not a certainty, and you should check the result before relying on it. Passport and visa photo requirements are set by the issuing authority, not by us, and we cannot guarantee any photo we help you produce will be accepted.

Some authorities restrict edited photographs, and you should know that before you submit one. The UK Passport Office requires a digital photo to be “unaltered by computer software” and instructs applicants “do not crop your photo — it will be done for you”. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada states that it will refuse an application “if the photo has been altered… including using photo-editing software, filters, or AI tools”. The passport photo maker replaces the background and crops to the document’s framing, both of which are edits of that kind.

We are telling you this rather than deciding for you. The tool is not restricted or blocked for any document, and there are legitimate uses for it against every specification we publish — preparing a photo to print, checking your framing before a studio visit, or applying to an authority with no such rule. Whether an edited photograph is appropriate for your particular application is your call, and you are the one who has read the rules that apply to you. If you are unsure, check the guidance for your document before submitting.

This section is subject to "Rights these terms cannot take away" below.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of MiniPx is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service in the 12 months prior to the claim. For Free tier users, this amount is zero.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

This section is subject to "Rights these terms cannot take away" below.

11. Rights these terms cannot take away

Some things cannot be signed away in a contract, and we are not trying to. Whatever the two sections above say:

• Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
• If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected. Depending on where you live, those include the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 sections 34 to 36 (digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described) and section 42 (your remedies if it is not); EU Directive 2019/770, and Article 22 in particular, which makes those protections non-waivable; and the Consumer Protection Act 2019 in India.
• Section 46 of the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers damage our digital content causes to your device or to your other digital content. The exclusion of "loss of data" in the section above does not, and cannot, apply to that. We do not exclude it.

Where any of these rights conflict with anything else on this page, these rights win and the conflicting wording simply does not apply to you.

12. Termination

You may stop using MiniPx at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Pro tier if you breach these terms in a material way (for example, distributing your Pro licence publicly to bypass payment). On termination of Pro access for cause, no refund will be issued. Free tier access may continue at our discretion.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if the changes are material, we will surface a notice on the site for two weeks. Continuing to use the service after a material change is taken as acceptance of the new terms.

If a change materially reduces what a paying customer bought — features removed, caps lowered, something you paid for moved behind a further charge — you do not have to accept it. Email us within 30 days of the change and you can cancel for that reason and get a pro-rata refund of the unused part of your term. For a Lifetime purchase, where there is no term to pro-rate, we will agree a fair refund with you instead.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes will normally be heard by the courts in Bengaluru, India.

If you are a consumer, that does not take anything away from you. You keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings against us in the courts of that country. We will only bring proceedings against a consumer in the courts of the country where that consumer lives. Nothing in this section is intended to override either of those rights.

Either way, we encourage you to email contact@minipx.com first; most issues are resolved without involving anyone else.

15. Related policies

These terms sit alongside two other documents, and all three apply together:

• The Privacy Policy — what data we collect (which is very little), what we do with it, and what stays on your device.
• The Refund Policy — the full version of the refund rules summarised above.

If those documents conflict with this one, the more specific document wins on its own subject: the Refund Policy governs refunds, the Privacy Policy governs data.
