Sizes read as the tool shows them (1 KB = 1,024 bytes); the target itself is 50,000 bytes, which is under 50 KB on either reading.
The most effective approach is combining compression with dimension reduction. Set the max width to 800px (sufficient for all form uploads) and use the Tiny preset with JPEG format. This typically produces files of 20-60KB from any source image; let the 50KB target close the gap and you meet the photo limit of IBPS and SBI (20–50 KB), the size limit of UPSC (20–300 KB), and most state PSC portals.
For passport photos specifically, most Indian government portals require JPEG images with dimensions between 200x230 pixels and 600x600 pixels, and file sizes between 10KB and 200KB. The 50KB target hits the sweet spot for virtually every portal. Crop your photo to a head-and-shoulders view before uploading to MiniPx for best results.
