Cleanup.pictures does one thing and asks nothing of you to start; MiniPx does the same thing inside a larger toolbox and asks for a subscription. That is the honest opening. If you have a single photograph with a stray bin in the corner and you want it gone in thirty seconds with no account, a free single-purpose eraser is a perfectly good answer and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The MiniPx object remover earns its place when the erasing is one step in a longer job, or when you want to know what filled the hole.

What fills the hole

PowerPaint, an inpainting model, named on the tool page. Inpainting does not "cut out" anything. It deletes the region under your mask and synthesises new pixels that continue the surroundings, guided by what it can see at the edges of the hole. That is why the surroundings decide the outcome: sky, a plain wall, grass, sand, fabric and skin all continue predictably and come back convincing. A tiled floor with a strong perspective, a face, printed text, a repeating fence or a busy shopfront do not, and the fill will look plausible from a distance and wrong under inspection. Cleanup.pictures does not publish its model, so once again the only real test is your own photograph through both.

Mask discipline is most of the result

A slightly generous mask beats a tight one, and one pass beats five. Cover the object and a small margin of the background around it, including its shadow and any reflection — a removed lamppost that leaves its shadow on the pavement reads as a mistake immediately. Do not paint over more of the scene than you need, because everything under the mask is discarded and re-invented. If the first attempt leaves a smear, undo and redraw rather than painting over the smear: masking a bad fill asks the model to continue its own error. Small-to-medium regions work best; a mask covering a third of the frame is asking for a new photograph, not a repair.

Limits and what a run costs

Object removal is a Cloud HD tool and it draws on the HD sub-allowance. Input is up to 25 MB and 24 megapixels, a mask is required, and the run happens on our GPU. Pro includes 150 cloud runs a month on the Monthly plan, of which 10 may be HD runs — object removal, the four-times upscale, and a restoration with colorization chained on. Pricing is $3.24/month or $29/year on the launch promo ($4.99 and $39 at list, tax excluded), a failed run is not charged, and cancelling is an email to contact@minipx.com rather than a button.

Why it is worth having in the same tab

Erasing is rarely the whole job. A listing photo usually needs the distraction removed, then a crop to the platform's aspect ratio, then a conversion, then a size reduction to get under an upload cap. On MiniPx that is the crop tool, the image converter and the image compressor, all free and all on the same device, with the one paid cloud step in the middle. A single-purpose eraser hands you a file and you go and find the other four tools yourself. If the subject also needs its background gone entirely, that is a different tool again — the background remover, which is free on your device.

Where the photo goes, and one thing we will not help with

The masked photo is uploaded for that run and then deleted. Processing happens in the United States on Cloudflare R2 storage and Modal GPUs, the transfer is encrypted, and the file is deleted when the run finishes, and in all cases within 24 hours. It is never used to train anything, and Cloud HD is off until a Pro subscriber switches it on. Cleanup.pictures is a cloud tool too; read their privacy policy for their side. One boundary worth stating: an inpainting brush is very good at removing watermarks and credit lines, and we will not write a guide to doing it. Removing someone else's attribution from their photograph is a copyright problem no model solves for you.

How it works

  1. Open the object remover: Go to minipx.com/remove-object-from-photo/. Cloud HD is Pro and the switch sits beside the run button.
  2. Paint the object and its shadow: Cover the thing plus a small margin, including any shadow or reflection it casts. Everything under the mask is replaced.
  3. Run one pass and look closely: PowerPaint fills the region from the surrounding texture. Check edges and repeating patterns at full zoom.
  4. Undo rather than patch a bad fill: If it smears, undo and redraw the mask. Painting over a failed fill asks the model to continue its own mistake.

Frequently asked questions

How large an object can realistically be removed?
Small to medium regions with predictable surroundings: a bin against a wall, a person on an empty beach, a blemish on skin, a cable across the sky. The larger the mask, the more the model has to invent with nothing to copy from, and the more the fill drifts into soft, plausible nonsense. A third of the frame is beyond what any inpainting model handles well.
Do I have to be precise with the brush?
Slightly generous beats tight. Cover the object plus a small margin so no fringe of it survives at the mask edge, and include shadows and reflections — a removed object whose shadow stays behind is the most common giveaway. Do not flood large areas of good background, because everything under the mask is discarded and regenerated.
Why does MiniPx charge for this when a free eraser exists?
Because it runs on our GPU rather than yours. Object removal is one of the four Cloud HD tools: Pro only, metered as an HD run out of 10 a month, and paid for by the subscription. The tools that can run in your browser are free and unmetered on MiniPx precisely because they cost us nothing — inpainting at this quality is not one of them.
Can I remove a person from a crowded background?
Usually not cleanly. The model fills the hole from what surrounds it, so a person standing in front of other people, a patterned railing or a shopfront gives it nothing coherent to continue. Isolated subjects against sky, grass, water or a plain wall are the cases that work. Try it, and judge the result at full zoom rather than in a thumbnail.
Does removing one object change the rest of the photograph?
Only the masked region is regenerated; the rest of the frame is left as it was, and the output keeps the input dimensions. That is deliberate — it means you can crop, convert or compress afterwards without fighting a second set of changes. It also means a fill that does not match is a local problem you can undo, not a whole-image re-render.
Can I use it to take a watermark off an image I found online?
Technically an inpainting brush will attempt it; legally that is between you and the copyright holder, and we will not publish instructions for it. Removing an attribution or credit line from someone else's photograph does not give you a licence to use it. Use the tool on your own photographs, where the only thing at stake is your composition.
