Hotpot.ai is a catalogue; MiniPx is a pipeline. Hotpot gathers a lot of AI utilities behind one login — restoring, colorizing, cutting out, enlarging, generating art, building graphics from templates — plus an API for developers. MiniPx has a deliberately short list of AI tools and a long list of ordinary image tools around them. If you want one place to try many different AI ideas, breadth wins. If you have a specific photograph and a specific problem with it, a narrow set of tools that each say exactly what they do tends to waste less of your time.
MiniPx never invents a picture
Every tool here starts from a file you supply and gives it back changed. There is no text-to-image generator, no avatar maker, no template art, and none is planned. That is a scope decision rather than a technical limit, and it has a practical consequence: nothing on MiniPx can hand you an image you did not already own the rights to. The AI tools correct, restore and remove; they do not compose. Hotpot spans both categories, which is a genuine advantage when generation is what you want and simply irrelevant when it is not.
The short list, with the models named
Seven tools can run on Cloud HD, each with a published model and a stated limit. Photo restoration runs RestoreFormer++ on faces at the input's own size. The AI photo enhancer is the same pipeline without the face requirement, cleaning blur, noise and faded colour at the same dimensions. The photo colorizer runs DDColor and returns a PNG. The object remover runs PowerPaint over a mask you paint. The image upscaler is free on your device and offers a HAT-L four-times pass on Cloud HD, as do the background remover and the passport maker, which switch to BiRefNet-HR matting on our GPU when you turn the switch on — five distinct models across the seven. Restoration, enhancement and colorization take up to 25 MB and 24 megapixels; the cloud upscale takes 4 megapixels and returns up to 16× the pixels of the input — a 4 MP photo comes back at about 64 MP. The model behind a tool can change, and the interface always shows which one ran.
The part that costs nothing
Roughly two hundred browser tools sit underneath the AI, unmetered. Compression to a KB target, format conversion, resizing, cropping, PDF assembly, favicon generation, EXIF stripping — all of it runs on your own device with no account and no counter, because a browser cannot bill you for its own processor. The three on-device AI tools (background remover, upscaler, passport maker) are the exception: they give 2 free runs shared between them at up to 1080 pixels with a small watermark, then a cooldown. If you have never spent money on an image tool, start with the image compressor and the image converter and see whether you ever reach the paid layer.
What Pro buys and what it costs
A month of cloud runs, not a credit balance. Pro is $3.24/month or $29/year on the launch promo ($4.99 and $39 at list, excluding tax), and includes 150 Cloud HD runs a month on Monthly of which 10 may be HD runs. There is a ceiling of thirty runs an hour, the allowance resets on the first in UTC without rolling over, and a failed run is not charged. There is no cancel button: you email contact@minipx.com and a person schedules it at the end of the billing period. Refunds are decided by a person too, not by a rule.
Where Hotpot.ai is the better choice, and where the file goes
Generation, breadth and automation are theirs; a named model and a written retention window are ours. Hotpot has an API, so it can be scripted, and its catalogue reaches into graphics and art that MiniPx has no answer for at all. Against that, our Cloud HD photo is uploaded for one run, processed in the United States on Cloudflare R2 storage and Modal GPUs, encrypted in transit, and deleted when the run finishes, and in all cases within 24 hours, never used to train anything — and every other MiniPx tool runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
