White Background Remover — Free, Fast & Private

Removing a white background is one of the most common cutout tasks: product photos on a white studio backdrop, line drawings on white paper, document scans, screenshots with a white frame. The result is a transparent PNG that drops cleanly onto any layout — a darker background, a brand colour, a magazine spread, or a slide deck.

MiniPx handles white-background removal in the browser using RMBG-1.4, a 44 MB open segmentation model. Even when the subject has white highlights (a white shirt, a white logo against a slightly off-white wall), the model uses semantic understanding rather than simple colour-key matching — so you get clean edges without the "halo" or "fringe" that you see with pure colour-based tools.

Product photo workflows

E-commerce and marketplace listings (Etsy, Amazon, Shopify, eBay) often require a pure white or transparent background. Sellers shoot in a lightbox with a white backdrop, then need to extract the product. MiniPx's HD tier handles this cleanly — see also the product-specific page for tips on batching and listing prep.

Line art and document scans

For black-and-white line art or signatures on white paper, the cutout is near-perfect. Output as PNG to preserve transparency, then composite onto your final layout. If your scan has yellowing or shadow gradients, MiniPx still handles the cleanup — but for a hard-edged colour-key approach, traditional tools like Photoshop's "Select Color Range" can also work. The advantage of MiniPx is that you don't need to install anything and your files stay on your device.

How it works

  1. Drop your image: Open MiniPx background remover. Drop a JPEG or PNG with a white background.
  2. Pick a tier: Instant for speed (250KB MediaPipe), HD for quality (44MB RMBG-1.4). HD is recommended for product shots.
  3. Download as PNG: The output is a transparent PNG, ready to drop onto any background in your editor.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work better than Photoshop's "Select Color Range" for white backgrounds?
For simple uniform-white backgrounds with high-contrast subjects, both work. MiniPx wins when the subject has white elements (white shirt, white logo) that confuse colour-key tools — the AI model uses semantic understanding instead of colour matching.
Can I remove off-white or cream backgrounds?
Yes — the AI doesn't require pure white. It treats anything that's clearly "the backdrop" as background, regardless of exact colour. Slight yellow tints, paper textures, light shadows are all handled.
What if the subject also has white in it?
The HD tier handles this well. White subjects on white backgrounds is the hardest case for any tool — MiniPx uses RMBG-1.4, which is trained on salient-object separation rather than colour keying. Quality is comparable to remove.bg and Photoroom for these inputs.
Can I keep the white background but remove just a logo or watermark?
No — that's a different task (object inpainting, not background removal). MiniPx specifically removes the area outside the detected subject.
Is the output transparent or does it have a white background?
Transparent PNG by default (RGBA). Pro tier lets you compose onto a new background colour after the cutout.
