PNG with Transparent Background — Free, Fast & Private

PNG is the format of choice for transparent images because it supports a true alpha channel (256 levels of transparency per pixel). MiniPx turns any input — JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF — into a transparent-background PNG by running an AI segmentation model in your browser.

Use cases: e-commerce listings on Shopify/Etsy/Amazon (where transparency lets the subject pop against the marketplace background), social profile pictures, design composites in Figma/Canva, slide deck graphics, app icons, and email signatures. Chat communities are another big one — Twitch emotes require transparent PNGs at 28/56/112px, and Discord emoji look right on dark and light themes only when the background is genuinely transparent.

If you need a transparent image in a more modern format, run the PNG through PNG to WebP or PNG to AVIF — both formats preserve the alpha channel and produce smaller files.

To make a transparent PNG, open the Background Remover.

How it works

  1. Open the AI Background Remover: Navigate to /background-remover/ — works on any modern browser.
  2. Upload your image: Drag and drop or click to browse.
  3. AI processes locally: Output is an RGBA PNG with alpha channel set per the AI-detected subject mask.
  4. Download: Save the transparent PNG. Use it in design tools, listings, or further editing.

Frequently asked questions

What is an alpha channel?
A fourth channel in addition to red/green/blue that stores transparency. 0 = fully transparent, 255 = fully opaque. PNG and WebP and AVIF all support it; JPEG does not.
Why is the file bigger than a JPEG?
PNG is lossless and stores 4 channels (RGBA) instead of 3. For photos a transparent JPEG is impossible, but if your subject is graphical with limited colors, the PNG can be quite small.
Can I convert the transparent PNG to WebP or AVIF?
Yes — both formats preserve transparency. Use /convert-png-to-webp/ or /convert-png-to-avif/.
How big is the output?
Free tier: up to 1080×1080. Pro tier: up to 4096×4096.
