Removing the background from an image is one of the most common image-editing tasks — for e-commerce listings, profile pictures, design assets, or just cleaning up a photo. MiniPx makes it free and private by running the segmentation model entirely in your browser. Your image is never uploaded.
There are two tiers. Instant runs MediaPipe selfie segmentation (a 250 KB download) and is tuned for people, faces, and selfies. Better quality runs RMBG-1.4, Bria's open segmentation model, and handles objects, animals, and product shots as well as people. Output is a standard transparent PNG you can drop into Shopify, Etsy, LinkedIn, Figma, Canva, slide decks, or any design tool.
The Better-quality tier downloads a 44 MB model file the first time you use it. After that it's cached and the tool works offline. Subsequent removals take 1-5 seconds depending on your device — WebGPU-enabled laptops (most 2022+) are fastest. A heavier "max quality" tier was trialled and withdrawn: it needed roughly 300 MB of working memory and ran out of memory on ordinary hardware, so 44 MB RMBG-1.4 is the highest tier we ship.
