How it works

Blur is not one thing, and the difference decides what is recoverable. Missed focus spreads detail evenly and restores best — the structure of the face is all still there, just soft. Motion blur smears features along one direction; mild cases restore well, hard cases leave the model guessing where an eye actually was. Tiny faces — a crop from the back row of a group shot — carry the least information of all, and are where the identity check earns its keep. Upload the photo and let the referee decide: a refused run costs nothing.

Feed it the least-damaged copy that exists. Every re-save, screenshot and messaging-app forward stacks compression on top of the blur. If the photo came from your own camera, use the original file. If it was sent to you, ask for it “as a file” or “original quality” rather than pasted into the chat. The difference on the restored result is not subtle.

Sharpen the face here, enlarge the photo elsewhere. Restoration returns the same resolution you uploaded. If you also want a bigger image — for printing, say — run the restored result through the upscaler afterwards, which runs entirely on your own device. Restore first, always: the upscaler preserves whatever it is given, blur included.

Privacy, stated plainly. This tool runs on our GPU server because the model is too heavy for a browser. Your photo is encrypted in transit, processed once, deleted on completion and in all cases within 24 hours, and never used to train anything. Nearly every other MiniPx tool — including the upscaler above — never uploads your image at all.

How it works

  1. Start from the best copy you have: Use the original file, not a screenshot of it, and not one that has been through a messaging app — compression on top of blur costs real detail.
  2. Upload the photo: Pick the JPEG, PNG or WebP (up to 25 MB, 24 megapixels). Pro accounts see the upload button; the file travels encrypted.
  3. Let the model restore each face: RestoreFormer++ finds the faces, rebuilds them, and checks each result against the original — seconds for most photos.
  4. Judge it at full size: Download the PNG and zoom in. If the run was refused instead, the photo was beyond honest restoration — nothing was charged.

Frequently asked questions

Can any blurry photo be fixed?
No, and a tool that says yes is selling something. Mild missed focus and small-print softness restore well; light motion blur often does; a face that is a smear of a dozen pixels leaves too little for even a strong model to anchor on. The identity check is the honest referee — if the restoration drifts from the person in your photo, the run is refused and costs nothing.
What is the identity check?
Every restored face is compared to the original face with a face-recognition model. A restoration that no longer reads as the same person is refused rather than returned. A tool that can rebuild a face this convincingly should have to prove it rebuilt YOUR face, on every run.
Why does it only work on faces?
The model was trained specifically on human faces, which is why it is so much stronger there than a general sharpener. A blurry landscape or product shot has nothing for it to anchor on, so the tool declines those instead of returning them barely changed — use the on-device upscaler for general images.
Will it invent details that were never there?
It reconstructs from what it learned faces look like, so at the finest level — individual eyelashes, skin pores — the detail is plausible rather than recovered. The identity check bounds how far that can go. For evidentiary or documentary purposes, treat a restored photo as an enhancement, not a record.
Is my photo kept anywhere?
No. It is uploaded over an encrypted connection for this run only, deleted within 24 hours of completion — and never used to train anything. The input file is gone before your download link is even issued.
