Lossless conversion preserves full quality

Convert HEIC to PNG | MiniPx — Free, Fast & Private

iPhones save photos in HEIC format by default. While HEIC produces excellent quality at small file sizes, many apps, websites, and services still cannot open HEIC files. Converting to PNG preserves full quality with zero compression loss.

PNG is a lossless format — every pixel from the original HEIC is preserved exactly. This makes HEIC-to-PNG ideal when you need maximum quality for editing, printing, or archiving. The trade-off is larger file sizes compared to JPG.

MiniPx handles HEIC conversion directly in your browser. On Safari and newer Chrome versions, the browser reads HEIC natively. On older browsers, MiniPx uses a JavaScript decoder as a fallback.

For photos you plan to share casually (email, messaging, social media), converting to JPG instead of PNG produces much smaller files. Choose PNG when quality matters more than file size — professional editing, print preparation, or archival storage.

Batch conversion is supported. Add multiple HEIC files from your iPhone and convert them all to PNG at once. Download individually or as a ZIP archive.

How it works

  1. Upload HEIC files: Add one or more HEIC photos from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Drag and drop or click to select.
  2. Select PNG output: Choose PNG as the output format for lossless quality. No compression settings needed — PNG preserves everything.
  3. Convert and preview: MiniPx converts each HEIC file to PNG in your browser. Preview the results before downloading.
  4. Download PNG files: Save converted PNGs individually or download all as a ZIP archive.

Frequently asked questions

Is HEIC to PNG conversion lossless?
Yes. PNG is a lossless format, so the conversion preserves every pixel from the original HEIC file. No quality is lost in the process.
Why are PNG files larger than HEIC?
HEIC uses advanced compression (HEVC) that produces small files while maintaining quality. PNG uses lossless compression which preserves every pixel but produces larger files. A 3MB HEIC photo may become 10-15MB as PNG.
Should I convert to PNG or JPG?
Use PNG when you need full quality — editing, printing, archiving. Use JPG when file size matters — email, web, sharing. JPG files are much smaller but lose some detail through compression.
Which browsers support HEIC?
Safari supports HEIC natively. Chrome 128+ supports HEIC on most systems. For older browsers, MiniPx includes a JavaScript decoder that handles the conversion.
Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?
Yes. Add all your HEIC files and convert them in batch. Each file is processed independently in your browser.
Does MiniPx upload my photos?
No. All HEIC conversion happens in your browser. Your iPhone photos are never sent to any server.
