Compress Images for Email — Free, Fast & Private

Email providers enforce strict attachment size limits: Gmail caps at 25MB, Outlook at 20MB, Yahoo Mail at 25MB, and many corporate email servers at 10MB or less. High-resolution phone photos at 5-15MB each means you can only attach 1-2 photos before hitting the limit and getting bounced emails.

MiniPx compresses your images to email-friendly sizes in seconds. The ideal size for email images is 100-300KB at 1280px width. This looks great on any screen while keeping total email size manageable — you can attach 20-50 compressed images and still stay under Gmail's 25MB limit.

For professional emails with multiple image attachments, batch compression is essential. Add all your photos to MiniPx at once, compress with the Smart preset at 1280px width, and download them all as a ZIP. Each compressed photo typically comes out at 100-300KB — small enough for any email provider.

MiniPx also strips EXIF metadata (GPS coordinates, device info, timestamps) from your photos by default. This is important when emailing images to clients, colleagues, or strangers — you do not want your location data embedded in the attachments.

All processing happens in your browser — your photos are never uploaded to any server, making MiniPx safe for confidential business images, personal photos, and sensitive documents.

How it works

  1. Upload your photos: Add all the images you want to email.
  2. Select Smart preset: Smart compression gives the best balance of quality and size for email.
  3. Set max width to 1280px: This produces ideal dimensions for viewing on screen.
  4. Download and attach: Save compressed images and attach to your email. Typically 100-300KB each.

Frequently asked questions

What is Gmail's attachment size limit?
Gmail limits total attachment size to 25MB per email. Base64 encoding adds about 33% overhead, so the effective limit is around 18MB of actual file data. Compressing images with MiniPx to 100-300KB each lets you attach many more photos per email.
What is Outlook's attachment size limit?
Outlook limits attachments to 20MB for personal accounts. Microsoft 365 business accounts may have higher limits set by the administrator, but 20MB is the safe default. Corporate Exchange servers often set limits as low as 10MB.
Why are my emails bouncing because of size?
When total attachment size exceeds your provider's limit, the email bounces back. Uncompressed phone photos at 5-15MB each exceed most limits after just 1-2 images. Compress with MiniPx first to reduce each image to 100-300KB.
What size should email images be?
For email attachments, 100-300KB per image at 1280px width is ideal. This keeps total email size well under limits while images look sharp on any device. Recipients can view and download images quickly without waiting.
Will recipients notice the compression?
At Smart quality (65%) and 1280px width, the compression is invisible when viewing on screen. Images look identical to originals in an email context. Only extreme zooming would reveal any difference.
Can I compress multiple photos at once for email?
Yes. Add all your photos at once and compress them in batch. There are no file limits. Download all compressed images as a ZIP, then extract and attach to your email.
Does compressing images remove my location data?
Yes. MiniPx strips all EXIF metadata by default, including GPS coordinates, device model, and timestamps. This protects your privacy when emailing images to people you do not fully trust.
How do I send large photos by email?
For photos you want to keep at full resolution, use a cloud link (Google Drive, Dropbox). For photos where visual quality at screen resolution is sufficient, compress with MiniPx first — this is faster for both sender and recipient, and works even on slow connections.
