Exam Photo Rejection Reasons — Free, Fast & Private
Every sentence in a quote box below is printed in the exam body’s own bulletin, notice or instruction page, and was matched word for word against that document; the limits beside them were checked against the same documents on 5 October 2026. The page number is given so you can find it yourself. Where a document lists its reasons under a heading, the list is reproduced as printed.
11 of the 15 exams covered here state reasons in writing: GATE 2027, UPSC (OTR), NEET (UG) 2026, NEET-PG 2026, SSC (CGL, CHSL, GD, MTS), IBPS PO / Clerk (CRP-XVI), SBI PO / Clerk 2026, RRB (ALP, NTPC, Group D), India Post GDS 2026, UPPSC (OTR) and TNPSC (2025–26 notifications). CTET September 2026, JEE (Main) 2026, CUET (UG) 2026 and TGPSC 2026 publish the limits and nothing more, so for those you will find the limits and no quotes — this page does not fill the gap with rules from elsewhere.
Two documents say what is not a reason. UPSC’s FAQ says it does not cancel a candidature over the size of the image or the colour of the ink, and SSC says an application made with Aadhaar authentication is not rejected over a photo or signature that misses its standards. Both are quoted in their sections.
If your file was refused by the upload form itself rather than after review, the cause is usually technical — format, pixel size, shape or a size floor. Work through the eight technical causes first.

What the documents have in common
Read side by side, the same few causes recur: a blurred or unclear image, a signature in capital letters, a photograph of an existing photograph instead of a live one, and an image that is not yours. None of them is a file-size problem. A compressor can bring a file inside the limits; it cannot fix a blurred scan or a signature written in block letters, so re-scan or re-sign first and compress last.
MiniPx compresses in your browser, so the photo and signature you are preparing are not uploaded anywhere while you do it.
