Compress an image between 20KB and 50KB

Forms often state a range, not just a ceiling. This tool is set to JPEG at the 50 KB ceiling; check the measured size against the 20 KB floor before you upload.

Compress Image Between 20KB and 50KB — Free, Fast & Private

A form that asks for "between 20 and 50 KB" is setting a floor as well as a ceiling. Many sites reject a file that is too small as firmly as one that is too large, because a very small file is taken to mean an unreadable picture. This page opens the compressor in JPEG, aimed at the 50 KB ceiling, and is plain about the one thing it does not do. Photographs for form fields usually sit in this band, which is also where a phone image has to give up the most: a typical camera file is many times larger than the ceiling, so the encoder works near its limits and the result tends to sit close to 50 KB.

What the tool does, and what it does not

The compressor takes a ceiling: it searches for the highest quality at which the file is still under 50 KB, which tends to leave the result close to the ceiling, not far below it. That is the right behaviour for a range, because the highest quality that fits is also the file most likely to sit above the floor. But the image compressor has no floor setting: it will not enlarge a file to reach 20 KB, and it does not pad one with filler data. A picture whose own best encode is already below the floor stays below it.

Who asks for 20 to 50 KB

In the exam documents MiniPx has checked, this is the photograph band — the passport-style picture on the banking and state-commission forms — and it also holds thumb impressions and a few signature fields. Each row is read from the conducting body's own notice and links the page that enforces it.

Fitting a face into 50 KB

A head-and-shoulders photograph carries far more detail than a signature — skin texture, hair, the edges of clothing — so this is the band where the ceiling usually binds. Crop to the face and shoulders before compressing: pixels outside the frame cost bytes and add nothing a form checks. A plain, light background helps twice, because flat areas encode cheaply and photo specifications commonly ask for one anyway. If the picture still will not fit at a quality you are happy with, the tool reduces the dimensions, and a passport-size photograph does not need a phone camera's full resolution to show at its intended size.

What fits in 50 KB — measured on this page

We dropped five real files on the compressor above and kept what it handed back. 5 of 5 came out under 50 KB; 3 were made smaller in pixels to get there, because past a point the bytes can only come from pixels.

Measured 2026-10-06 in Chromium 145.0.7632.6 with this page’s own settings. The photos are public-domain and CC0 files from Wikimedia Commons; the screenshot is our own. Sizes read as the tool shows them (1 KB = 1,024 bytes); the target itself is 50,000 bytes, which is under 50 KB on either reading.

Of the 5 real files in that table, 5 finished inside the range, between 20 KB and the ceiling..

If the result is under 20 KB

Read the measured size on the result screen before you download. If it is under 20 KB, the source picture is simply small, and the honest fix is a better source: a higher-resolution photograph or scan gives the encoder more to keep.

Exam forms that print a minimum are a different case: MiniPx's exam pages enforce the size band the exam states, floor included, using quality only and never padding. the IBPS photo page and the SBI photo page show one; the band they read from the exam's own document is 20–50 KB.

Decimal kilobytes

KB here is 1,000 bytes. A file inside the range by this count is inside it for a portal that counts 1,024-byte kilobytes too, except for a file within a few percent of the floor, where it is worth checking.

How it works

  1. Add your JPG: Drop the file on the tool above, or browse for it. It is read in this browser tab.
  2. Leave the ceiling at 50 KB: The tool opens on JPEG aimed at 50 KB. It has no floor setting, so the 20 KB minimum is yours to check.
  3. Compress: The tool searches for the highest quality that fits, and reduces dimensions only if quality alone cannot reach the target.
  4. Check both limits, then download: Check the measured size against 20 KB and 50 KB. If the ceiling was not reached, the notice says so and gives the real size.

Frequently asked questions

Photo ko 20 KB se 50 KB ke beech me kaise kare?
Use the compressor at the top of this page, which is set to land a file between 20 and 50 KB. Drop your photo in, compress it, and check the size shown next to the result; the page explains what to do if it lands outside the band.
Does MiniPx guarantee a file between 20 and 50 KB?
No. It measures the result against the 50 KB ceiling and says so when the ceiling cannot be met. The 20 KB floor is not enforced on this tool, so check the size shown before you download.
What if my file comes out under 20 KB?
The source is small enough that its highest-quality encode is already below the floor. Use a larger original. MiniPx does not add filler to reach a minimum.
Why is the format JPEG?
JPEG has a continuous quality dial, so the search can land near the ceiling and keep the quality that fits. Forms that state a size range almost always ask for a JPG.
Is there a tool that enforces a floor?
The exam-form pages do, using quality only. They apply to the bodies named on them, not to any form.
Is my photo uploaded?
Compression, conversion, resizing and every free tool run entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. The JPEG is encoded in this tab.
