Compress an image between 10KB and 20KB

Signature and small-photo fields often state a range. This tool is set to JPEG at the 20 KB ceiling; check the measured size against the 10 KB floor before you upload.

Compress Image Between 10KB and 20KB — Free, Fast & Private

A signature field that says "10 to 20 KB" sets two limits, and the lower one catches more people than the upper. Upload portals check both ends, and a file under the minimum is turned away just as a file over the maximum is. This page opens the compressor in JPEG with a 20 KB ceiling. Signatures and stamps are the usual reason for a band this small. A scanned signature is a simple picture and often fits on quality alone, which means it may well finish under the floor; a signature photographed with a phone carries a lot more detail and tends to finish near 20 KB.

What the tool does, and what it does not

The compressor takes a ceiling: it searches for the highest quality at which the file is still under 20 KB, which tends to leave the result close to the ceiling, not far below it. That is the right behaviour for a range, because the highest quality that fits is also the file most likely to sit above the floor. But the image compressor has no floor setting: it will not enlarge a file to reach 10 KB, and it does not pad one with filler data. A picture whose own best encode is already below the floor stays below it.

Who asks for 10 to 20 KB

In the exam documents MiniPx has checked, this band belongs to signatures. The table lists every document whose stated size sits inside it, each read from the conducting body's own notice, with the page that enforces it.

Why a signature is the hard case for the floor

A signature is dark ink on a lot of white paper, and JPEG stores flat white almost for free. So in this band the risk is usually the floor, not the ceiling: a tightly cropped signature at modest dimensions can encode under 10 KB even at high quality. Sign in dark ink on plain white paper, capture it in even light, and crop with a small margin rather than to the very edge of the strokes. If the result is still under the floor, start from a larger capture — more pixels of real ink is what lifts the size honestly, where a grey or textured background only adds noise to the picture.

What fits in 20 KB — measured on this page

We dropped five real files on the compressor above and kept what it handed back. 5 of 5 came out under 20 KB; 3 were made smaller in pixels to get there, because past a point the bytes can only come from pixels.

Measured 2026-10-06 in Chromium 145.0.7632.6 with this page’s own settings. The photos are public-domain and CC0 files from Wikimedia Commons; the screenshot is our own. Sizes read as the tool shows them (1 KB = 1,024 bytes); the target itself is 20,000 bytes, which is under 20 KB on either reading.

Of the 5 real files in that table, 5 finished inside the range, between 10 KB and the ceiling..

If the result is under 10 KB

Before downloading, compare the size on the result screen with 10 KB. A signature that lands under it was captured too small or cropped too tight: scan it again at a higher resolution, or photograph it closer so the page fills more of the frame, and compress again.

Exam forms that print a minimum are a different case: MiniPx's exam pages enforce the size band the exam states, floor included, using quality only and never padding. the SSC signature page shows one; the band they read from the exam's own document is 10–20 KB.

Decimal kilobytes

The sizes on this page count 1,000 bytes to the kilobyte. A portal that counts 1,024 sees the same file as slightly smaller, which matters only at the bottom of the band: a signature just over 10 KB by our count can be just under 10 KB by theirs, so aim a little above the floor.

How it works

  1. Add your JPG: Drop the file on the tool above, or browse for it. It is read in this browser tab.
  2. Leave the ceiling at 20 KB: The tool opens on JPEG aimed at 20 KB. It has no floor setting, so the 10 KB minimum is yours to check.
  3. Compress: The tool searches for the highest quality that fits, and reduces dimensions only if quality alone cannot reach the target.
  4. Check both limits, then download: Check the measured size against 10 KB and 20 KB. If the ceiling was not reached, the notice says so and gives the real size.

Frequently asked questions

Signature ko 10 KB se 20 KB ke beech me kaise kare?
Use the compressor at the top of this page, which is set to land a file between 10 and 20 KB. Drop the signature scan in, compress it, and check the size shown next to the result; the page explains what to do if it lands outside the band.
Does MiniPx guarantee a signature between 10 and 20 KB?
No. The 20 KB ceiling is measured, and the result screen says so when it cannot be met. The 10 KB floor is not enforced on this tool, so read the size before you download.
My signature comes out under 10 KB. What now?
Mostly white paper encodes very small. Capture the signature larger — a higher scan resolution or a closer photograph — and keep a small margin around the strokes. Do not add a coloured or textured background to bulk it up.
Which format should a signature be?
The one the form names; check it first. This page uses JPEG because its quality dial is continuous, so the search can land close to the ceiling instead of far below it.
Is there a tool that enforces the floor?
For the signature fields in the table above, yes: each linked exam page enforces that body’s stated band, floor included, using quality only and never padding.
Is my photo uploaded?
Compression, conversion, resizing and every free tool run entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. The JPEG is encoded in this tab.
