X (formerly Twitter) displays images at specific dimensions depending on placement. Using the correct sizes ensures your images appear sharp and uncropped in timelines and profiles.

Key X/Twitter sizes: Profile photo — 400x400px (displays as circle). Header — 1500x500px. In-stream image — 1600x900px (16:9 landscape). Card image — 800x418px (summary with large image). Because X masks the profile photo to a circle, it is worth circle-cropping it first to preview exactly what the round frame keeps before you upload the 400x400 square.

For tweet images, 1600x900px (16:9 aspect ratio) fills the timeline preview without cropping. Square images (1080x1080) also display well. Portrait images taller than 16:9 get cropped to show the center.
